  Directly based on the original The Tone Zone humbucker, the DiMarzio DP210 P90 Tone Zone soapbar humbucker delivers the same quality of sound and big, high-output. While it's often mounted at the bridge, this model can also be mounted at the neck and, since soapbar pickups are usually set quite low, the magnetic 'window' they have to capture string-vibration is pretty small. To counter this, DiMarzio has increased the power a touch and broadened the magnetic field around the coils, bringing the tone closer to that of a traditional humbucker.

  If you're comparing a single-coil soapbar to a humbucker, then things couldn't be more different. What the DiMarzio DP154 DLX Plus pickup manages to do is build a tiny bridge between the two. Set up for the bridge position, this soapbar-style humbucker takes some of the character of a standard soapbar single-coil to give this humbucker a more clean and airy, open sound. This is made possible by pulling back the mid-range a touch, tightening up the low-end and retaining some high-end punch. Basically, this pickup packs plenty of power but never get muddy.
